Australia voted to recognize the "permanent sovereignty" of Palestinians for the first time in a United Nations resolution.
While the U.S. , Israel , Canada , Canada and four other countries voted against the resolution, Australia and 158 countries voted in favor of it.
Eleven countries abstained from the vote, 11 abstained.
Draft resolution is now set to be brought before the UN General Assembly for consideration.
