A survey asked Americans where they would want their ashes spread if they choose to be cremated.
Sports venues topped the list in 11 states, including college football stadiums in 11 .
Chris Gerbasi helped spread the remains of his friend, John Burr , at Michigan Stadium in 2005 .

Some states require a permit to spread ashes on public property or national parks.
It's not illegal to scatter ashes onto the field, but most states require permission to do so.
A columbarium under the field might not be practical, but burial grounds for mascots do exist both inside and outside stadiums.
"It gives you the heebie-jeebies knowing that it's there and visible," one grounds official says.
"We tell people no, and then they still find a way to do it, because it was somebody's last wish," another says.
