Donald Trump has said he won't be a dictator "except for Day 1 ," but he has a long list of things to do on that first day in office.

Trump 's list includes starting up the mass deportation of migrants, rolling back Biden administration policies on education.

He also wants to fire the special counsel who has been prosecuting two federal cases against him.

As president, Trump can pardon anyone convicted in federal court, District of Columbia Superior Court or in military court-martial.

Trump promised throughout the campaign to impose tariffs on imported goods, particularly those from China .

He has said he has a particular focus on “corrupt bureaucrats who have weaponized our justice system” The Office of Personnel Management finalized a rule last spring against reclassifying workers.

With an executive order on Day 1 , he can roll back environmental protections, halt wind projects, scuttle the Biden administration's targets.

Trump has said he will launch the largest deportation program in American history.

The president can direct his administration to begin the effort the minute he arrives in office.

It's much more complicated to actually deport the nearly 11 million people who are believed to be in the U.S. illegally.
