•Job losses at Langara College? Faculty group fears fewer international students means fewer classes to teach
77% Informative
Langara Faculty Association is concerned about job losses at Vancouver 's Langara College .
The college is in the middle of putting together a new strategic plan at the same time that it's coping with declining international enrolment.
B.C. colleges president Colin Ewart says international students have been “integral to college programs across institutions”.
For Langara ’s faculty association, short retraining courses can be taught in less than 13 weeks .
Such instructors would likely be individuals with industry experience for specific micro-credentials, says Greaves.
“All that does is put people in more precarious work situations,” says the faculty association.
