Canada ’s most famous hockey commentator Don Cherry , now 90 , is back in the news, with his firing from the CBC and Hockey Night in Canada being reconsidered by some.
Don Cherry said he was not trying to be racial or controversial but be more of a coach trying to remind the players on the bench to wear their poppies.
He said he had no regrets for speaking out on the issue, but has a few regrets about losing his job and missing out on a lot of fun.
Finally, a shout-out to all who have served, and, for me, especially, to my grandfather Lloyd Staples , who fought in the trenches of Belgium in the First World War , to my father Brian , who served as an officer in post-war Germany , and to my son Joseph , now training to be an officer in the Canadian Armed Forces . We are thinking of all of you..
