The Boss, a well-known Bow Valley grizzly bear, wandered through Harvie Heights and Canmore on Sunday and Monday , scavenging trees for fruit.
The grizzly was spotted in the Banff townsite on Tuesday along the Canadian Pacific Kansas City rail line, being guided by Parks Canada officials.
A similar incident occurred in Banff in 2023 when The Boss entered the town and ate from the fruit trees before hibernation.
The best approach to protecting bears, and humans, is to avoid encounters with the animals.
Parks Canada urges anyone in bear habitat to remain vigilant, carrying bear spray and keeping a safe distance.
The Boss’ visit to Canmore was uneventful overall, which Miller said is a good thing.
