White women favoured Trump by 52 to 47 per cent , according to the NBC News exit poll.
This was a shift of just three points to Harris from Biden ’s tally in the same poll in 2020 .

Trump 's message of securing the border resonated strongly with all voters.
Majority of Hispanic men ( 55 per cent ) backed a Republican candidate for president for the first time.
Latinas voted by 60 to 38 per cent for Harris but this too represented a significant shift from 69 to 30 per cent support for Biden against Trump four years ago .
