The Bundestag will vote on a resolution to combat antisemitism in Germany on Thursday .

Many legal experts, Jewish scholars, and rights groups say it will erode democracy.

The cross-party resolution is the result of months-long , closed-door negotiations between the ruling coalition government and the center-right opposition.

The resolution aims to make state funding for culture and science projects dependent on adhering to a controversial definition.

IHRA definition of antisemitism was originally intended to be a "big net" to support research.

Professor Joshua Shanes says the definition has been "hijacked" by forces aligned with Israel to prevent criticism of and protect Jewish hegemony in Israel .

150 Jewish artists, writers and scholars living in Germany wrote an open letter expressing their "deep concerns" about the planned resolution.
