Calgary councillors vote to cap next two years' property tax increases.
The property tax hike for homes overall is 5.5 per cent .
For single-detached houses it is a 3.9 per cent tax increase.
The lower the tax hike number, the better chance the most unpopular city council in the city’s history can get out of the taxpayer doghouse.
The city budget will be debated by Jyoti Gondek and council the week after next.
“Not a chance in hell,” says Dan McLean , a councillor who vows to get Calgarians the lowest tax bill possible.
This year ’s tax hike is on top of the last tax hike.
