The two women spoke to BBC News NI about their children, their experiences and why they want schools to have frank conversations with young people about drugs.
Fiona Spargo-Mabbs said she could no longer watch her son's life and last moments on stage.
"I've banned myself from ever watching it again," she said.
Both mothers said there had been "complete enthusiasm" when they had discussed the play and the work in schools.
