•‘We’re mad’: How women are driving the vote in WA’s bellwether county
77% Informative
Clallam County voted for Trump by 2.8 percentage points in 2016 , then backed Biden by 3.4 points in 2020 .
It’s seen as the swingiest place in the nation, but senior women there have been fueling a blue tilt of late.
In some states with party registration, Democrats are seeing strong early turnout among older voters, particularly women.
A national poll this past week estimated that the pool of registered voters who didn’t vote in 2020 backs Trump by 19 percentage points.
The gap between college-educated women, who favor Harris , and lower-voting, non-college men is an almost poll-busting 43 percentage point.
If Trump wins, it will be the bitterest pill for many older women such as Bertsch .
“The symbolism of it is almost too much to bear,” Bertsch said.
