79% Informative
Liza Burrell-Aldana was asked if she had proof of citizenship in her purse.
A poll worker at an early voting site in Fairfax County , Virginia , asked her, twice: “Are you a citizen?” She said she was.
The political climate seems to have given license for people to ask such questions, she said.
Burrell-Aldana : "That’s the beauty of becoming a citizen, that you get to vote" She worries a newer voter could have given up or had their vote influenced in the same situation.
But being singled out also strengthened her sense of duty, she said.
