Temperature at Roque de los Muchachos Observatory in the Canary Islands rose in 20 years twice as much as predicted by climate models.
Researchers from the Universitat Autùnoma de Barcelona led a long-term study of climatic conditions at one of the main astronomical observation sites in the northern hemisphere.
The research was published in the journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society .
There is no evidence that the changes detected in the meteorological conditions could affect the operation of the telescopes or increase the time they will have to remain inactive due to inclement weather in the coming years .
