Rachel Reeves slapped the tax on landowners who pass agricultural land on to their children in her Budget sparking fears it will spell the end of family farms.
She has insisted the change being dubbed a tractor tax’ is a fair’ way to raise money for public spending.
But last night farmers were preparing to stage protests if the Chancellor refuses to U-turn on the plans.
