•Mini '2001' monoliths fly into space on first flight of Blue Origin's 2nd crew ship

A stack of miniature black slabs modeled after the monoliths in the epic " 2001 : A Space Odyssey" have made the trip into space and back on the first flight of Blue Origin's second human-rated launch vehicle.
The blocks were flown for Spacemanic , a satellite mission integrator, in partnership with the Croatian publisher Amaranthine Books .
Blue Origin has flown 43 people into space, including Jeff Bezos , William Shatner and Laura Shepard , daughter of the first American astronaut to fly into space.
Pearlman is a contributing writer for Space.com and co-author of " Space Stations: The Art, Science , and Reality of Working in Space" Pearlman was inducted into the U.S. Space Camp Hall of Fame in 2009 .
In 2021 , he was honored by the American Astronautical Society with the Ordway Award .
