Ricky Pearsall was shot through the chest in an attempted robbery attempt in downtown San Francisco .
The 49ers receiver played in his first NFL regular-season game against the Kansas City Chiefs .
"It meant everything, obviously, all the adversity I just went through these past months , it was really good to go out there with my guys again," he says.
The bullet that struck him was "through and through," meaning it entered the right side of the front of his chest and exited out his back.
Ricky Pearsall caught three catches for 21 yards for the 49ers against the Chiefs.
The 49ers fans in attendance at the game offered a standing ovation for the receiver.
"Physically I feel great. I feel like I could play another game right now," he said.
"The NFL is a land of opportunity," tight end George Kittle said.
