Ford government has fallen short in funding mental health and addiction programs, says NDP leader.
Marit Stiles warned against involuntary treatment, an idea publicly supported in a Facebook post by Windsor’s mayor last week .
She urged the province to fund evidence-based services for those experiencing mental health or addiction crises.
In August , the province introduced a new plan to help municipalities tackle a worsening addiction crisis.
MPP Andrew Dowie told the Star that the government has implemented programs that help provide affordable housing.
“To the question of whether or not the Premier is doing enough to make life affordable for people, the government is actually going in the complete opposite direction,” Gretzky said. “In our community alone, we are seeing an increase in people experiencing homelessness. We’re seeing an increase in people relying on food banks, people who are working two , sometimes three jobs, who are accessing food banks.” [email protected].
