Windsor Public Library board appointed Jen Knights as interim library CEO.
CUPE Local 2067 president Katie Vlanich is questioning the selection process that resulted in Knights ’ appointment.
Knights is Windsor’s executive director of recreation and culture, and will retain her culture portfolio while she helms the library.
Knights acknowledged she doesn’t have library experience, but said she has been a “lifelong user of the library”.
In recent years , Milton Public Library and Thunder Bay Public Library boards appointed new CEOs without library experience.
“Is this a trend? No. Is it normal? No,” said Samek .
McKenzie previously told the Star it’s “good to have someone coming in with fresh eyes on things”.
