Banff National Park rides Jasper wildfire turbulence to notch near-record visitor numbers

Banff National Park is on pace to welcome a near-record number of visitors this year .

Numbers are continuing a trend in recent years of increasing visitors to Canada ’s oldest and most popular national park.

Over the past decade , visitation to the national park has jumped by 31 per cent to well over four million annually .

Parks Canada is seeking public input on its area plan for Lake Minnewanka , an area of campgrounds and multiple lakes north of the townsite.

Alberta government says last year , visitors spent $12.7 billion in the province, exceeding 2022 ’s record-setting $ 10.7billion by almost 20 per cent.
