44% of 400 Pueblo homeowners polled prefer renewable energy as a replacement for the coal-fired Comanche 3 plant.
Xcel Energy is preparing to retire and replace the plant.
The poll was conducted by the nonprofit advocacy organization the Colorado Public Interest Group .
"Our overburdened and underserved community deserves better than this," says a state manager for the group.
