60% Informative
The Focal Utopia Diva is French hi-fi manufacturer's first active wireless speaker.
It's a project that has been five years in the making, and has overcome technical hurdles to come into existence.
Each speaker features a 1 in beryllium speaker, a 6.5 in tweeter, a5in mid-bass driver and.
four side-mounted 6 in 6 -of-face speakers.
The speakers are capable of 800 watts of power per speaker.
Naim has used UWB (ultra-wide band) tech in the Utopia Diva, to ensure latency between the two speakers is negligible.
The speakers don’t even have to be physically connected to each other if you really want to keep wires to a minimum.
When wireless, the resolution maxes out at 24 -bit/96kHz, but this ramps up to192kHz by hardwiring them together.
Nine test tracks is far from enough to cast a full judgement of these speakers, but it's enough to leave you wanting to listen to more.
There’s no getting away from their price, of course, which is inconceivable for all but the most committed audiophiles.
