Osaka Metropolitan University studied 95 cases of DLM patients under the age of 15 who underwent surgery between 2003 and 2017 .

Study found that the surgical results for osteochondritis dissecans were good in pre-osteochondritis cases, but 28.5% had a recurrence of the joint disorder.

Age was found to be a risk factor for relapse or post-surgical occurrence, and surgery on patients ages 9 and under was also involved.
