A new study shows that life expectancy in the U.S. has decelerated in recent decades .

Few people born in Japan , South Korea , Australia , France , and Spain are expected to reach 100 in 2019 .

The findings suggest that focusing on simply expanding our lifespan might be short-sighted.

There’s a lot of good science going on, but there's also some embellishments and exaggeration.

“I wish folks would stop exaggerating and telling people they’re all gonna live to 100 or 120 or 150âthese sorts of claims of radical life extension associated with any of these interventions,” he said. “You don’t need embellishment and exaggeration to justify this effort to slow aging," he said.
