It's Willy Chavarria's America, and we're just living in it

Mexican American designer Willy Chavarria's Spring/Summer 2025 collection was titled “ América” Models walked down the runway sporting looks that drew inspiration from the working-class laborers and migrant farmers who are the backbone of the country.

The show featured the American flag as a backdrop, with a wrenching rendition of Juan Gabriel’s “ Querida ”.

The designer's farmworker inspiration was something very, very special to me.

The workwear is really having a moment right now, but the pieces you designed and the way they were styled felt like a reminder that these are clothes we’ve been wearing. We have been wearing these things. There is an ownership that we have over some of this stuff, and I’m happy for us to take that back.

"Willy Chavarria Fashion Services" is one of the most diverse collections in the fashion world.

The designer says he wants to be a Ralph Lauren or Tommy Hilfiger , or a Michael Kors , but just offer something different.

He says he has to deal with the industry's inner workings to get support and visibility.
