Interventions that promote a healthy weight have the potential to prevent complications for all women.
The study was conducted by researchers at Linköping University and Karolinska Institutet .
In their study, the researchers examined eight different complications in the mother and baby.
Preterm birth ( before 37 weeks of pregnancy) and extremely preterm birth were found to be the most common complications.
Infant mortality in the first year of life in the study was also studied.
