Scientists find origin of signal that traveled through space

Scientists have identified the 'weird' origin of a high-energy burst of radio waves that traveled eight billion years through space before reaching Earth .

It was 3.5 times stronger than any previous astrophysics model predicted it would be from its vast distance away.

The burst has proven to be so unique for its origin in a cluster of seven tightly packed galaxies.

This tightly packed set of galaxies could prove to have been ideal conditions for an extraterrestrial species developing interstellar space travel.

J-P showed that the further away a fast radio burst is, the more diffuse gas it reveals between galaxies.

The team at Northwestern is exploring this possible use of the new data on FRB 20220610A and its weird, distant galaxy of origin as well.
