Experts say the true impact of the endorsement lies more in boosting voter turnout than increasing support for the Democrats .
A Newsweek/Redfield & Wilton Strategies poll of 1,750 registered voters conducted on July 29 , found that 34 percent of Gen Z voters were either "more likely" or "significantly more likely" to vote for a Swift-endorsed candidate.
Since the last presidential election, 8 million more members of the Gen Z are eligible to vote.
However, Thomas Gift , a political scientist, is not optimistic that those who have now registered to vote will now turn out to the ballot box in November .
