•80% Informative
Microsoft is re-architecting its Recall feature for Copilot+ Windows PCs.
The original version of Recall recorded screenshots and OCR text of all user activity, stored unencrypted on disk where it could easily be accessed by another user or an attacker with remote access.
The new version will be opt-in and off-by-default instead of opt-out, and will be encrypted locally.
