Thousands of festival goers may be entitled to compensation from the state government as part of a class action over strip-searches conducted by NSW Police officers.

The class action, run by Redfern Legal Centre and Slater and Gordon Lawyers , launched in 2022 , is believed to be the biggest brought against NSW Police.

The case has been listed for a four-week trial in the NSW Supreme Court starting in May 2025 .

In the 2018-19 and 2019-20 financial years , NSW Police conducted 9116 in-the-field strip searches, or searches outside of police custody.
