National Audit Office said a decision on tunnelling between Old Oak Common and Euston was “needed by the summer of 2024 to avoid much higher costs in the future.

The arch was demolished and the station rebuilt in the 1960s , with the low-rise concrete building being opened by Queen Elizabeth in 1968 .
Plans to demolish the station were announced in 2007 — but abandoned in 2011 in favour of remodelling alongside the new HS2 terminus.
