Redwood Materials will recycle lithium-ion batteries from all of BMW 's electric, plug-in hybrid-electric and mild hybrid vehicles.
The battery recycler signed its first car company partnership in late 2021 with Ford .
The deal also includes the MINI and Rolls-Royce brands.
The goal is to reduce reliance on overseas sources by having raw materials such as lithium mined in the U.S. , using those materials to manufacture batteries domestically.
