Arab Americans from across the country are in Dearborn for a national convention of a civil rights group.

Hammoud urges people to register and cast ballots.

The convention is being held less than two months before a presidential election in which Michigan is seen as a swing state.

Jewish and pro-Israel groups have criticized using words like "genocide" and "apartheid" to describe Israel 's actions.

"We're not going to agree on every single issue throughout the weekend , but.. we all have the same goal," one speaker says.
