•Casement Park: 'Significant risk' stadium won't be built for Euro 2028
69% Informative
The estimated cost of rebuilding Casement Park stadium in Belfast has "risen dramatically" to more than Â400 m.
The government said it will not be providing funding to redevelop the stadium in time for the tournament.
Northern Ireland could have a role as a training base or host warm-up matches at the existing Windsor Park stadium.
The Ulster GAA called the announcement âbitterly disappointing.
Sinn FÃin deputy leader Michelle OâNeill said the announcement is âdeeply disappointingâ and represents a âmissed opportunity for sport and our economyâ.
But anger and frustration wonât change the fact that the dream of Euro 2028 matches in Belfast appears to be over, with the stadiumâs future still far from clear.
