The researchers incorporated a model of early dark energy into an empirical galaxy formation framework to see how the earliest dark matter structures evolve and give rise to the first galaxies.
"A priori, I would not have expected the abundance of JWST 's early bright galaxies to have anything to do with EDE ," says Marc Kamionkowski , professor of theoretical physics at Johns Hopkins University .
