Tim Walz was travelling to a presidential campaign event in Wisconsin on Monday .
He and his wife Gwen were unhurt in the crash, which happened near the rear of the motorcade.
A member of staff, travelling in one minibus, was treated for a suspected broken arm.
It wasn't immediately clear what caused the crash but the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
