Public Utility Regulatory Authority turned down widespread calls to reopen decision that resulted in a sharp jump in July electric bills.
The increase was approved to reimburse Eversource and United Illuminating for the hundreds of millions of dollars the state requires them to spend annually on social welfare, decarbonization and other so-called public benefit programs.
