Five crates of human relics returned to Pacific island of Vanuatu after eight-year FBI investigation.
They were seized by the FBI in 2016 from the estate of a deceased New York collector who had amassed 200 sacred items from Indigenous cultures around the world.
The contents were two skulls molded with mud and three large effigies, each containing the skull of a man, uniquely painted to depict the final stages of his life.
U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell attended a ceremony on Thursday in Port Vila .
