Staff of two Massachusetts hospitals say patients will suffer and could even die as a result of the closures.
Staff say Steward Health Care CEO Ralph de la Torre extracted more than $100 million from the company before it filed for bankruptcy in May .
The company had earlier cashed in by selling all its hospitals for $1.2 billion and leasing them back from the new owners.
Carney Hospital and Nashoba Valley hospitals will close on Saturday .
Carney Hospital nurse Mary Ann Rockett said she considers staff and patients to be like a family.
She said she also believes the closures will result in negative outcomes, including deaths.
Neither Steward nor a patient-care ombudsman responded to questions about whether deaths or other negative outcomes were expected.
