Mark Zuckerberg wrote to Rep. Jim Jordan that he wished he’d stood up to the Biden White House about “censoring” content.
Frida Ghitis : Zuckerberg ’s claim that he would stand up to government pressure on moderation is undermined by revealing this literally while caving to the government.
She says the White House sought to persuade social media companies to adjust their content moderation practices.
Ghitis says the Supreme Court found no evidence of this being coercive.
Zuckerberg says he regrets not being more aggressive in making sure more people saw misinformation that might lead them to make bad decisions and possibly die.
He says the White House tried to persuade Meta to take Covid misinfo more seriously.
Zuckerberg also says that they made their own decisions and it wasn’t due to White House pressure.
Mark Zuckerberg admits that the White House pushed to suppress’ the Hunter Biden story, even though Meta admitted it had probably been too quick to limit the spread of the story.
Zuckerberg said the FBI gave general warnings about “hack and leak” operations that the Russians were working on, which is no surprise given that they released DNC emails.
