Researchers from UC Santa Barbara found mosquitoes can see infrared light from body heat.
This light allows them to pinpoint the location of their victim and then plan their attack.
They theorized that IR light would travel through the air in an electromagnetic waveform and then hit certain neurons in the mosquito.
The researchers also showed that loose-fitting polyester clothing can prevent IR from reaching mosquitoes.
