Aduro Clean Technologies has a novel “hydrochemolytic’ reaction that converts stubborn and contaminated polymer mixtures into new plastic materials.
The company’s water-based continuous flow reactor operates under mild conditions with relatively low energy demands and minimal losses along the way.
Up to 95 percent of recycled polypropylene can be converted into hydrocarbons for new plastics or chemicals.
Aduro ’s process operates at a relatively mild 350 C, much lower than the typical 500 to 800 C range of industry-standard pyrolysis.
Its yield of more than 90 percent outperforms chemical ( 50 to 60 percent ) and mechanical technologies.
The company plans to operate on a licensing business model, in which customers pay a fee for its help in designing and implementing the plant according to their needs.
