Vice President Kamala Harris unveiled her economic plan at a rally in Raleigh , N.C. on Friday .
The Democratic hopeful sought to set herself apart from her opponent, Republican nominee Donald Trump .
Her plan hinges on a concept she calls the “ Opportunity Economy ,” where “everyone can compete and have a real chance to succeed”.
Harris ' version of the legislation would expand the benefit for middle- to lower-income families for a year after a child is born.
“We will provide $ 6,000 in tax relief to families during the first year of a child’s life,” she said.
She has also called for an extension of premium subsidies from Affordable Care Act .
