Nearly three quarters of graduates earn less than 29,120 — the average salary of those aged 22 to 29 — more than 15 months after leaving university.
Five years later , they have still not caught up and earn 3,300 a year less than the median salary for their age group by this later stage.
The figures lay bare the extent to which the subject young people choose to study — and where they study it — is critical to their earning potential.
“In the UK maybe the starting salaries are around $80,000 ( 61,000 ), the highest paid ones in tech firms,” he said. “In the US , $ 153,000 is entry level and you would have a stock bonus on top of that of maybe $ 37,000 .
