•OAS Adopts Resolution on the Situation in Venezuela
71% Informative
Ambassador Francisco O. Mora : The July 28 election in Venezuela , and the events of the weeks since, demand a timely and clear response from this institution.
We have seen numerous and credible reports of repression and violence, coupled with documented human rights violations and abuses, including arbitrary detentions.
This resolution calls upon the National Electoral Council of Venezuela to expeditiously release the detailed election results, including the “actas”.
The OAS has once again proven it is not just a forum for discussion, but that we can take action.
We have shown that when democracy and respect for human rights are at stake, we will not falter.
Let us continue to build on this spirit of cooperation and solidarity, as we work together to promote a brighter, more just future for all the peoples of the Americas .
