Tesla primed to sell AI-powered humanoid robots alongside its EVs in 2025. But will they be any good?

Elon Musk has tweeted that Tesla will have "genuinely useful humanoid robots in low production for Tesla internal use next year " Elon's announcement suggests that robots that have physical human-like characteristics may be with us soon.

The most commonly envisaged uses for such robots are in factories, carrying out repetitious, dirty, dull and dangerous tasks.

Steve Benford is Professor of Collaborative Computing in the Mixed Reality Laboratory at the University of Nottingham .

He won the 2003 Prix Ars Elctronica for Interactive Art, the 2007 Nokia Mindtrek award for Innovative Applications of Ubiquitous Computing , and has received four BAFTA nominations.
