Libertarian U.S. Senate candidate Sid Daoud said top Republicans from the Montana GOP chairman to Donald Trump encouraged him to drop out of the contest.
Trump was in Montana on Friday to campaign in support of Tim Sheehy , the Republican nominee for Montana ’s Senate seat currently held by Democratic Sen. Jon Tester .
Most of those implicated acknowledged talking to Daoud but denied encouraging him to step aside.
Libertarian candidate Sid Daoud says he discussed Libertarian ideals with the Republicans and that they were all “very nice” to him.
Daoud is a two -term member of the Kalispell City Council , a nonpartisan post.
No Libertarian candidate has ever been elected to either chamber of U.S. Congress .
