More than 400 first -time voters from across the country gathered in July to discuss political issues and the upcoming election.
A poll released on Monday found that in those four days they moved closer together on contentious issues.
The gathering was a so-called deliberative poll where participants were randomly selected to produce a sample of young voters from the entire nation.
“To my surprise, there wasn’t a moment of hostility, despite tense discussions,” says Democrat from California .
“I left with an even stronger passion to vote and speak up about current and social issues, says California Democrat .
Participants became more committed to voting after the event, researchers say.
