From 1999 to 2017 , the V-Rod graced dealership floors as a direct response to the high-powered sport bikes being manufactured in Japan .
The one -of-a-kind 1,247 liquid-cooled V-Twin Revolution engine generated enough horsepower and torque to make the competition blush.
It also served as a major transitioning point for many former sport bike riders looking to convert to the Harley-Davidson world, but still satisfying their need for speed.
The V-Rod went through a few cosmetic changes in 2006 , it wasn't until 2008 that Harley-Davidson cranked up the engine displacement from 1,130cc to 1,247cc .
Since its debut, the Night Rod had begun to develop a fan base entirely of its own, separate from that of the original.
By 2018 , Harley closed the book on production due to the new Euro-4 emission standards.
The V-Rod was the bike of choice for many former sport bike riders making their way into the Harley-Davidson world.
It was proof that Harley wasn't just the motorcycle brand for the stereotypical Harley rider.
It proved to the world that it can adapt along with the times and appeal to a wider customer base.
