Ros Canter heads to the Paris Olympics as the No 1 in the eventing world rankings.

The 38-year-old from Lincolnshire remains plagued by imposter syndrome.

She has delivered six gold medals in her five European and World Championships appearances.

Eventing may be one of the more egalitarian sports, where men and women of all ages go head-to-head in dressage, show jumping and cross-country.

“He has absolutely no imposter syndrome. I imagine Walter would think, That person has upset me, so I'm going to let them know about it’” Canter says.

“Sometimes I wish I could find the whole job more relaxing, but I think that has helped me on the big stage because it keeps me grounded and my effort levels high. I ride much better because I am a real team player,” he says.
