Mabu rainforest is the largest rainforest in southern Africa .
Scientists have discovered at least 25 new species of dung beetles in the rainforest.
The forest has been protected by Mozambique 's civil war which ended in 1992 .
The BBC joined a team of scientists in the centre of the forest for the first time this year .
Large mammals that once inhabited Mabu forest have all been hunted out, most likely for food during the war.
Deforestation has also taken a toll, though not as badly as other forests in southern Africa .
But at the same time species of smaller mammals are also being discovered, including a horseshoe bat and dwarf musk shrew.
